Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to website operators. Cookies allow websites to remember your preferences, understand how you use the site, and improve your overall experience.
Who We Are
This website is operated by Daekyo Co., Ltd., a South Korean education company headquartered in Seoul. ELIS is a global kindergarten brand managed by Daekyo, currently operating a center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
How We Use Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies on this website for the following purposes:
Essential (Always Active)
These are necessary for the website to function properly. They enable core features such as language preferences, form submissions, and bot protection. These do not collect personal information and cannot be disabled.
- elis-lang (localStorage) — Stores the language currently being displayed.
- elis-lang-explicit (localStorage) — Records a language you chose yourself, using the language selector or the language suggestion. On later visits it returns you to that language from our English home page. It is set only by your own choice, never from your browser or device settings.
- elis-cookie-consent and elis-cookie-consent-withdrawal (localStorage and cookies) — Remember your cookie preferences. The consent cookie is used when localStorage is unavailable. The withdrawal key preserves evidence of a choice made as a page closes, in whichever storage channel remains writable, so an older queued choice in another tab cannot restore tracking.
- lang-toast-dismissed (sessionStorage) — Prevents re-showing the language suggestion during your session.
- elis-guide-language (localStorage) — Remembers the language you chose on the Illumine parent guide page (/illumine/), so it opens in that language next time.
- Google reCAPTCHA — Protects our inquiry forms from spam and abuse. May set cookies as part of bot detection.
Analytics (Requires Consent)
When you consent, Google Analytics (GA4) collects anonymous, aggregated data about how visitors interact with our website — such as pages viewed, time on site, and general geographic region. This helps us improve the site experience. Google Analytics is loaded via our hosting provider and uses cookies including _ga and _ga_*.
We have implemented Google Consent Mode v2. If you decline analytics cookies, Google Analytics will not store any cookies or collect identifiable data. Cookieless pings may still be sent to provide aggregate measurement without identifying individual users.
Third-Party Embeds
Our website includes embedded content from Google services that may set their own cookies:
- Google Maps — Displays our school location on the Locations page.
- Google Calendar — Shows our public events calendar.
- Google Fonts — Delivers web fonts on certain pages.
These services are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Advertising / Marketing (Requires Consent)
When you consent to the Marketing category, we load the Meta Pixel from Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram). It lets us measure which of our Facebook and Instagram advertisements lead parents to contact our Ho Chi Minh City center. If you do not consent, the Meta Pixel is never loaded and no request is made to Meta at all.
- _fbp (cookie) — A randomly generated identifier for your browser, set by the Meta Pixel.
- _fbc (cookie) — Records that you arrived from a Facebook or Instagram advertisement, when you did.
- elis-vn-inquiry-open.* (cookie) — Set for 30 minutes when you activate the Ho Chi Minh City enrollment inquiry link — including opening it in a new tab, or opening its context menu — so that a completed inquiry is counted once. Your browser deletes it automatically when that time is up. Stored only if you consented to marketing cookies.
- elis-vn-inquiry-claim.* (cookie) — Set alongside the above while a completed inquiry is being counted, so that two browser tabs cannot count the same one twice. It expires at the same moment as the entry above, and is removed as soon as the inquiry has been counted.
We send Meta only a small set of behavioural events: that a page was viewed, that the enrollment inquiry form was opened, that the campus tour link was opened, and that an inquiry was submitted. We attach no form data to these events — no name, email address, telephone number, or any information about a child is ever sent to Meta from this website. As with any request your browser makes to another company's server, Meta does receive your IP address and browser user-agent, along with the _fbp / _fbc identifiers described above.
You may withdraw this consent at any time through Cookie Preferences. We then stop sending events and delete the _fbp and _fbc cookies. Please note that a script already loaded into a page that is still open cannot be removed until you reload it. Our Google consent signals ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization remain permanently set to "denied" — we run no Google advertising.
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
When you first visit our website, a cookie consent banner will appear allowing you to accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or customize your preferences by category.
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer of any page on our website.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies. Please note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some parts of this website.
Data Sharing
Daekyo Co., Ltd. does not sell personal information for money. Information collected through cookies may be shared within Daekyo's corporate group solely for the purpose of operating and improving ELIS educational services. Separately, and only while you have the Marketing category switched on, the Meta Pixel sends the events listed above and browser/device information to Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. and Meta Platforms, Inc. so that we can measure our advertising. Privacy laws may treat some advertising or measurement disclosures as a sale or sharing of personal information. Those events carry no name, email address, phone number, form contents, or information about your child, and this advertising-measurement disclosure stops as soon as you withdraw the Marketing category.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
